1. Acceptance of these Terms

By downloading, installing, or using XiaoKao ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. The service

XiaoKao is a Chinese-language learning app focused on the HSK exam (HSK 1–6, HSK 2.0 and 3.0), offering vocabulary drills, flashcards, listening practice, exam sets, and a personalized study coach. The App does not require an account — your progress is stored on your device.

3. Subscriptions and purchases

• Plans. The App offers optional Premium plans — auto-renewing subscriptions (3-month, 6-month, 1-year) and a one-time lifetime purchase. Exact pricing, currency, and any introductory offer are set by the App Store / Google Play and shown before you buy.
• Payment & billing. All purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, not by us. We never receive your payment card details.
• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price you agreed to when subscribing.
• Managing or cancelling. Manage or cancel any time via: iOS — Settings app → your name → Subscriptions; Android — Play Store app → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Uninstalling the App does not cancel an active subscription.
• Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies — we cannot issue refunds directly.
• Restoring purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID / Google account. Use "Restore Purchases" in the App to restore Premium on a new device or after reinstalling.
• Lifetime purchase. The lifetime plan is a one-time purchase that does not renew or expire.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App beyond what applicable law allows; use the App to violate any law; interfere with the App's operation (e.g. abusing free-tier quotas via automation); or resell, sublicense, or redistribute the App or its content.

5. Content and intellectual property

The App's content — HSK vocabulary sets, exam questions, audio, illustrations, and the study coach's recommendations — is provided for personal, non-commercial learning use. We and our licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in the App and its content, except for third-party dictionary data and audio (e.g. Youdao pronunciations) used under license or public availability. HSK is a trademark of Hanban/Chinese Testing International; XiaoKao is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hanban/CTI.

6. Study recommendations

The study coach and roadmap features generate personalized recommendations (readiness score, daily plan, weak-skill insights) using an algorithm that runs entirely on your device, based on your own practice and exam history. No study data is sent to a server to produce them. These recommendations are study guidance only, are estimates rather than predictions, and are not a substitute for official HSK exam materials or professional advice.

7. Third-party services

The App uses Firebase Analytics, Google AdMob (ads), RevenueCat (purchases), and third-party dictionary/audio sources. Their use of your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will result in any particular exam outcome.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sapo is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or USD 10 if you made no payment).

10. Termination

We may suspend or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it; this does not automatically cancel an active subscription (see §3).

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law gives you additional rights (e.g. EU/UK/California residents).
